Green River Woods was honored to rebuild Biltmore’s Cedric’s Tavern bar top in Asheville. We used premium quartersawn/rift white oak that we had personally salvaged, milled and dried from a monumental historic tree on the Biltmore Estate over two years prior. This project presented many challenges–not least of all that we had to work quickly, installing the custom substrate(s), three piece mitered bar top, drink rail, trim to match existing notched corbels from an older non-standard bar rail, and the new bar rail all in two days. Everything matched perfectly and I am very proud of how it all turned out.

I built an “L” shaped bar top out of maple. One section was 16″x6′, and the other was 16″x4′. The tongue & groove boards joined together flawlessly! This made the final sanding a breeze, and the top looks like glass! On March 21, I emailed you with some questions, and Paul quickly responded by phone.  My total bar length was 8’5” and the longest rail you sell is 8’10”. My math told me I’d have enough if I measured accurately and cut carefully.  Paul confirmed my math and gave me some very useful tips.  I decided to order with Paul right then and there.  I ordered the 8’10” rail and a 4’ section for the sides.  The rail arrived I perfect condition.

I finished my bar and couldn’t have pulled it off without the bar rails, drip edge and corner moldings.  The quality of the wood was very impressive. The grain patterns and near finish quality was stunning out of the box. I almost didn’t want to stain it.  Speaking of the box, it was so well packaged that there was no chance of damage from the normal abuse of shipping. We originally ordered bar rail from a big box chain home improvement store.  It was back ordered, so I cancelled and went shopping and found Hardwoods Incorporated.  Which I received quite promptly.  Shortly after, we received the big box store’s bar rail because they couldn’t cut off the order.  While we had to take their rail back, it gave us the opportunity to see their product and yours…and I’m telling you, you guys hit a home run in comparison.  I’m so glad our original order from a big box company was back ordered.  For anyone needing bar rail or related molding, I’ll never refer them to anyone else.

Very nice bar rail. I ordered an 8’10” and a 7′. When I got them 4 days later the 7′ one was a beautiful tiger maple piece. Unfortunately the longer one was just normal maple which is what I had ordered. I emailed to let them know that bar rail wasn’t going to work for me and they asked for some pictures and agreed. A few days later I had my replacement which was a great match. I wasn’t in a rush so it didn’t cause me any problems. They took care of the issue promptly and without hesitation. I chose to use Hardwoods Inc. over another supplier after reading the many satisfied customer reviews. We placed an order for the 6” radius corner, and 24’ each of the matching Chicago Bar Rail and drip edge in white oak. We received the products on time and were immediately impressed with the shipping containers, everything arrived in perfect condition thanks to the excellent package protection.
We finished our bar using ¾” Birch plywood, #1 pine boards, Wainscoting and Hardwoods Inc. white oak bar rails and drip edge. We used  General Finishes stain and Arm-A-Seal gloss urethane to finish and protect the wood. The materials are top notch. Customer service, is even better. I was scrolling on the internet for bar rails and this site kept popping up wherever I went. So I gave them a call. Got a voicemail. I didn’t leave a message. But almost immediately I got a call back from Paul M. on my cell. Had a nice conversation explained what hey had to offer, I went online the next day and got 16 feet of rail and radius corner. Built the sub top and final top to the specs provided with the documentation and watched the videos. The only problem (if its really a problem) was that I had a hard time keeping my friends, who were helping me, on track because they wanted to use the bar as soon as the top was laid. Pro tip – don’t let your friends use the bar for 2 hours before making the cuts on the corner! We prevailed and eventually got it perfect and the rail and corner just makes the bar that much more comfortable. Just wish we were as efficient as the guys in the video, but I suspect that wasn’t their first. Hardwoods Inc. is highly recommended. I am glad we decided to buy from them instead of a home center place.

This was my second bar build and I can say that using this bar rail made the bar. The profile is perfect for resting you forearm. The customer service was great. Well, wasn’t making a bar, but darn sure would use the fluted corner columns again if I were. I actually made a new altar for my pastor’s church using the poplar columns at the front corners of the altar which was finished in a white eggshell paint. Results were outstanding. Fit and finish were spot-on. I will order some fancier wood columns for my bar in the future. Cherry, walnut or oak would look stunning with a natural finish to bring out wood characteristics. Hardwoods Inc. products are clearly first rate.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your excellent product. You did everything you said you would do. My bar rail came in on time and it was packed so well. There was no blemishes on the rail. After cutting the 90 degree the length you sent me was so perfect that I had 4 inches left over. No waste. After installing the rail I sanded it as per your instructions on the printed paper. After that I followed the instructions for staining and it came out beautiful. After the stain was dry I sprayed polyurethane and wet sanded each coat. After 4 coats it was like glass. The feel of that rail was perfect and beautiful. The bar rail is 14 feet long and seriously you have to look for the cut and bisquet jointed seam. I wish I could send you the step by step pictures to prove your product of quality wood is that awesome. I have had so many people commenting on that bar rail. You have to see it and feel it. WOW.

I purchased all the Black American Walnut wood pieces for an L shaped bar with hand rail, drink rail, drip edges, and wings. The wood all arrived undamaged and very well packaged. Unbelievable products! Quality was top notch. Packing and packaging was unbelievable. There was virtually no way these products would be damaged in transit! This product in red oak worked out great with a 3 CM granite bar top. Very little sanding required to join the ends and at the mitered joints. Used a 2-1/4 block to position the rails for miter cuts. Also stained very well with Varathane Honey color to a fairly dark pub look which is exactly what we wanted.

This was the first Bar that we have done and decided to go with the BR 475 style rail. First off I’d like to Thank the Folks at Hardwood Inc for a very quick turn around on getting our bar rail to us. And I will have to say everything they told me on it was on the money. I did make a jig because it was the 1st one as I said before to make my 45 cuts at both ends of the bar. But the end joints were beautiful and took little to no work.

Ordered knotty pine in multiple lengths for my bar. Product arrived quickly and was of solid quality. Ordering was a breeze. Product was packed well and protected. I finished by burning it with a propane torch, then several coats of wipe on poly. Ended up matching my burnt ship-lap perfectly.

We ordered this for an outside bar I built this summer. I know Poplar isn’t the best for staining, but it worked perfectly for our bar top. …I would like to share a few words about my experience with Hardwoods Incorporated and in particular, Paul.  I’ve never built a bar before.  Very new to this.  Paul walked me every step of the way, took countless phone calls and gave me invaluable advice.
The best part of my experience was receiving the products I bought.  I custom ordered quarter sawn solid oak bar top kit and rail kit.  The quality of the product was impeccable. And talk about an easy process!! All of the bar boards were labeled with tape including numbered pieces and arrows to show me exactly where they went.
Lastly, the curved radius corners are end grain and will come darker.  It’s a natural consequence of end grain.  To help it match, I sanded it a little more, taped it off after installation, and applied a wood conditioner.   This conditioner helped it soak up less stain.  I then stained the straight rails with a few extra coats.  The finished product was fabulous.

Built a 27 linear foot, “L” shaped bar for my neighbor’s new restaurant using BR475 bar railing, 6″ radius curve, and drip edge molding made of Red Oak. The restaurant owner and I are extremely happy with the results.
