The bar top turned out great. I used the instructions to get the sub-base and base correct and the bar rail went on just like the instructions said they would. The only thing I would pass along is to make sure you leave a little extra wiggle room when placing two pieces together on a long run. I had everything fitting snug and then put glue on the ends and got myself a little tighter than I expected. But that was all me, had nothing to do with the product purchased.

The cherry bar rail, glass rail, trim etc. was high quality stuff. I am extremely pleased. I am not a cabinet maker, nor carpenter etc. I chose a new bartop as a “Covid Lockdown” DIY project. I decided to do a veneer on plywood top with square “tiles” cut with the grain in a 45 degree diagonal that produced a natural “checkerboard” look. Never did this before, but I think it was worth the trials. I was limited as to power tools in our condo environment – I cut the plywood base in a parking lot with a 5″ cordless saw. After that, quiet tools only. The 90 degree rail cuts were done with a decent hand miter saw, and like the cuts on the pieces that from Hardwoods Inc., they came out perfect.

I did a lot of research trying to decide if the arm rail was necessary. Most of the bars in my area do not have it anymore. I decided to go for it and purchased 3 pieces of the BR 475 Bar Rail in Red Oak and was surprised at how fast it arrived. One of the pieces was a 10′ so it had to be bisquet joined. Perfect alignment so it is very hard to even see the joint once it is sanded and finished. After completing the bar there is no doubt it was worth the cost. The quality of the wood was great.

Built a 27 linear foot, “L” shaped bar for my neighbor’s new restaurant using BR475 bar railing, 6″ radius curve, and drip edge molding made of Red Oak.
Shipping took about five days from order to delivery using UPS. The material arrived very well packed and with no damage.
Each piece was unpacked and carefully inspected. Absolutely no tear out and all surfaces appeared ready to finish with no additional preparation. The ends were dead square and the biscuit joints perfect — all joints glue ready. The quality of the mill work was exceptional.
The installation video is short and to the point. It does a great job of describing the process, materials needed, and tools used. While I knew how to do the work it’s not something I do frequently. Viewing the video yielded some very useful tips and mentally prepared me for the task. Installation went smooth and fast.
All surfaces were finished by spraying four coats of Mohawk 2K ISO Free Polyurethane. The finishing instruction on the Hardwood Incorporated website are well worth reading.
The restaurant owner and I are extremely happy with the results. The railing looks great, joints are tight, and the wood matches. The BR475 design is comfortable and attractive. We will definitely go back to Hardwoods Incorporated for the next build.
The one thing that I would do differently is to order individual pieces as long as possible to reduce the number of joints. In my case this would have required using a different shipping method as UPS limits packages to 8′. That takes longer and probably costs more. Everyone tells me that the joints are so tight they don’t notice them but I know they’re there.

I purchased BR-475 cherry bar rails from Hardwoods Incorporated for the 10 foot long bar that I have built. The rails matched perfectly with the solid cherry bar top that was fabricated from two 2-inch x 12-inch rough cut cherry boards. The rails were shipped as two 5-foot sections and one 2- foot section. The pre-slotted biscuit cut and biscuit provided by Hardwoods Incorporated allowed for easy alignment and connection of the two 5-foot rails. The seem is hardly noticeable. Miter cuts were used to join the 2-foot end rail with the the main 10-foor rail. The installation details given on the Hardwoods Incorporated web site as well as the finishing instructions that were provided with the rails were very helpful. I am quite pleased with the final result. The finish on the bar top and rails is beautiful. The bar rail molding gives the bar a professionally built look. I will forward photos of the finished project.

Bar rails came in 2 days. The packaging was excellent and they even supplied a few small pieces in profile to use for checking the fit and to make matching side pieces much easier. One of the rails came in two pieces with the bicuit joint cut and ready to go – the grain matched perfectly so you almost can’t see the joint.
